Watch this space. Will give full bare metal and fab all the patches bar the doors. This car is probably only one in the country in new Zealand and was my dad's car he passed away 18 years ago so wanting to restore his pride and joy. If it wasn't his car with meaning I wouldn't be doing this and would be buying a coupe.

Where in NZ are you? When i live in Picton (nz) as a teenager was a yellow 4 door 6 cylinder comet up the road from us, think it belonged to the high school caretaker. After he passed away i didn't see the car anymore.

I was born in Blenheim my dad mark Hodder used to own it. He was from picton! It used to be yellow I'll post a pic up of it when it was yellow! He died in 1997 and my sisters uncle bought it and stored it in Christchurch since 1997. The car was brought up from a guy called Neil jorgensen he's from the picton area. He was one of my dad's mates. Im from Hamilton. Will be down picton way around new years I'll be kean to have a look if you have a comet/maverick. Meet at the toot and whistle pub for a beer?

Small world, i was wondering if it was the same car just painted red.was your dad the caretaker or your grandfather, he was a nice guy, used to say hi when ever i saw him at school. I think Neil Jorgensen owned one of the boat yards in Picton. Sorry won't be able to meet up in Picton as i live in Oz now but if you spend any amount of time at that pub you'll probably be there with my dad, as it's his watering hole.i lived in Blenheim as a kid in the 70s then again about 14 years ago before moving to Oz about 10 years ago. I brought my 71 Comet from a friend that lived in Seddon. I once had a guy from a hotrod club in Christchurch asking to buy my car as a parts car for his.

I sort of knew your dad, i don't know whether it was because my older brother knew him to talk to. The car used to be parked outside your grandparents house which was next to the gates of our school. I have my car here in oz, building up money and parts to do more work on it.

Hope you did not take it that we were bashing on you and your car. Without the details of your location and why, you were getting honest answers. I did a restoration on my Grandparents car. So, I can sympathise with what you are doing.

    Good luck.

Have you had a look on Autokarfters or Melvins for some of the smaller parts that you need, plenty of good parts there.

Might make grille out of metal to the factory look. Was thinking they will all be broken or too brittle to ship
