I want to get a new exhaust system in my Maverick but having a hard time on deciding which one to start saving up for , I have a V8 and love the sound when I step on the gas so I definitely want something that would keep that strong muscle car sound and improve it without being too loud when I'm not moving. So far I've been thinking of getting the flow master exhaust kit with the super 44 series but it is pricey, what are some other systems i should look into ?

this depends on how strong you built your v8... i had the same exhaust from a stock v8 to a built v8, and it was night and day difference in volume. dual glasspacks out the rear.. and you could rattle windows when you romped on it. i am in an area i need to make it quiet now. i would do dual flowmasters with an h pipe if volume is not a concern.

I had a stock 302 in the 75 Maverick. The only modification that it had was dual exhaust with glass-packs. It sounded good enough that people would comment about it.

I always go to the local muffler shop and let them install it they bend it mig it where needed and put it coming out the back where I want it usually way cheaper than ordering a kit then if anything goes wrong with it they fix it cheap

ive had hit and miss on muffler shop experiences. i had duals put on my dodge ram, and the hangers kept braking. then i had a baffle in one of the mufflers brake inside after 3 months, and the shop charged me almost as much to replace the muffleer then it was to get the whole exhaust done. i need to find a good place in the little rock area still sence i just moved here.

Most muffler shops can't do mandrel bends on the exhaust tubing.

It'll sound good, but will be loud. Turbo mufflers may be a better choice.

If you want to deal with a local muffler shop, go to cruise nights and talk to some folks that have had their systems done. It will become apparent through networking if there is a really good shop in your area.

The guy that modded my headers retired, so I am back to square one for exhaust work.

    Bomrat,
I kept breaking the passenger side rear hanger on my Comet. That is when we figured out that my motor needed to be anchored down better, motor mounts were shot, the motor rocked too much and it was twisting that pipe too much. Food for thought ....
