I did try it. That is what lead me going back into the house to get my camera to show others proof that the bars are different length. The bar is way too long for the end links to be close enough to perpendicular with the control arm no matter which side was up. Are you sure you have a Granada SB? If so, what year? I was trying it with a 76 Granada SB. BTW...heat will cause the metal to be brittle and that could cause the bar to break in two under stress.

I quick peeked at the other threads pic's to just to look at what all the hubbub was about and I'm with you on this one, bud. It also seems his bar is mounted in the typical manner and really doubtful that bar is mounted upside down because it doesn't even seem possible to mount it the other way round. The bars eyelet offset is up and away from the lower control arms mounting hole.

IMO, to be screwing around with the temper on a sway bar would be almost as bad as screwing around with the temper on your front springs. You break a bar at high speeds and you better believe that the suspension will abruptly settle and wheels will need to be turned back and forth faster than you could ever correct them to maintain control.

I do know that there have been others who've used early Mustang(65-66) bars and they are similarly(to the Granada bar) a bit too long as well. Which is pretty evident by the cockeyed spacers on the end links. To reduce the cockeyed percentage.. you'd need to use longer spacers.. which would be the wrong way to go due to increased bending tendencies. Trust me, I've tried it and they just don't make bolt grades strong enough to keep me from breaking them the way I drive. And the bushings will go to hell quicker as well.

I have the sway bar from a Versailles and I'm assuming it's the same as a Granada. It was definitely a little to long and I never thought about flipping it upside down. I hope somebody has one they'd like to get rid of because I want to see what baddad457 comes up with.(y)

My Brother has a Granada sway bar mounted in his 76 Maverick Stallion and has been driving it that way for years with no problems! He is a member of the group but isn't on here much.

First positive response I've heard since I told about Granada sway-bar fits Mavericks upside down. I don't post anything helpful anymore cause there's too many negative responses and K.I.A.s (Know It Alls)

Just because some people get by doing things wrong or in a fashion that reduces the usefulness or efficiency of a design still doesn't actually make it right for everyone else. You got frustrated and gave up on us even though others have tried to repeatedly tell you several times over is that the bar installation you pictured is NOT upside down. If you don't believe us?.. try to mount it in the opposite direction once. I can tell for a fact that I can break the hell out of that same setup with one hard race around a parking lot full of speedbumps and potholes. Hell, I can bend and break a fairly well designed setup too if the end link bolts aren't shortened up a fair amount over the stock designs length. Lowered cars with bigger springs and stickier tires are even tougher on those parts too. Broken tons of them through the years.

It should also be fairly obvious that when the end links are tightened down correctly from what was shown in those pictures.. the added geometry issues created.. and also shown in pictures on other threads from those who have actually used similar bars from same or other models.. will be amplified become much more apparent to the naked eye. Not choosing to compress and rebound through the suspensions normal travel.. which I might add is quite extreme in very heavy cornering.. before giving this mod 2 thumbs up doesn't make all these issues go away. Otherwise, all the suspension companies who have developed bars for our cars would simply offer an "upside down Granada version", right? And not to take anything way from you for trying to think outside the box here but you're certainly not the first person in history to try and install a swaybar upside down to get better fitment. Some folks are spatially challenged and some like breaking rules. I myself typically only break rules to improve somethings effectiveness.. not just for the sake of saving some money.

Now after some additional thought, on the other hand when the car is in heavy compression on one side versus the other.. that particular end links geometry issue will be improved more towards optimum(parallel or true vertical positioning) as the lower arm travels upwards and the end links mounting point moves outwards slightly as the control arms end link hole/mounting point gains some length from the cars centerline. Unfortunately, the opposite affect will then occur on the other side of the car as the suspension rises and the end link mounting point moves in on the already too long sway bars end link. The designs geometry can be changed, but basic physics can't.

Telling people to put on a upside-down swaybar that is too wide for the car is not "helpful".
It's hillbilly engineering at its best. And you are the "know-it-all", but unfortunately, you don't know jack.

I'm not saying that I believe this mod to be 100% legitimate, or that it's even "upside down" for that matter.. but, you know what Larry?.. you talk way too much smack to people that don't agree with you or your narrow minded viewpoints. Then you continue on by going way too far and belittling people who simply try to give opinions on what they tried and found to work for their intended purpose. It's not like he's seriously endangering someones life here with this particular input.

Maybe just once try to disagree without tossing in the childish insults for god's sake.

Like you just did to me?? You're hilarious. I stated a plain FACT, and after I was called a "know-it all". That fool got hostile toward me when I told him his end-links were loose ant that the swaybar effectively wasn't doing anything.
You should just stick to carb "tuning", because the character assassination isn't working out for you.

and therein lies much of the problem.. you state "facts" without actually giving any additional info to back them up or even attempting to substantiate them. Which is a very big.. HUGE.. difference between you and I. Fact is that I write novels trying to pinpoint and clarify the needed details while you resort o this type of boloney.

And trust me here.. I don't need to belittle your carb tuning knowledge because it speaks for itself. Who needs character assassins when there are those who unknowingly commit self character assassination by speaking well beyond their actual knowledge base and quickly sink to name calling when someone calls BS on their lack of real knowledge.

You don't even know what the word "tuning" means, because what you refer to as carb tuning is far beyond that.
I'm not going to continue this back-&-forth with you here, because I don't wanna get in trouble with the Admins. I'm just going to point out that this is supposed to be an Information Site for Mavericks/Comets, so that information should be correct. It's nice that you want to defend the guy who thinks that turning a sway-bar upside down makes it shorter, but I'm not going to be silent when such nonsense gets posted. You are the pot calling the kettle black with your condescending remarks, and personally, I really don't care what you think. It's not likely that I will ever meet you, so your lame remarks are of no real value, and you are nobody important.

    Have a nice day.

Wow is right. I used to post on this board every day. I don't miss this one bit.
