so I need to replace the exhaust in my car. well not really, guy I bought it from decided that long tube truck headers would be awesome in this car, so now I cant pull the transmission, which needs work. nevermind, I can but the engine has to be half way out and the pipes disconnected. so, any info on a whole kit manifold to tailpipes? any info would be appreciated. thanks.

Since Mavericks never offered with duals, you will probably have to take it to a custom exhaust shop and have a system bent up for you.

I have heard many people using a (I could be wrong) 1970 mustang kit and modding it where needed..That will be a great route price wise, but! any way you go will need some sort of modification...A local muffler shop is a great start and they are usually very helpfull..Where in GA are you? I have mine done in Lagrange GA

yea, the car is under restoration and problem is I have to do this so I can pull the tranny and make it driveable. so I really didn't want a brand new system on it before I actually tear the whole thing apart. and supersnake I used to be in Fayetteville but now I live in commerce about a mile away from the Atlanta dragway.

From what you have stated, the headers are your first concern that needs to be addressed. Why don't we start there? Let the debate begin!!!!!!!!!

Sonce nobody brought it up, exhaust manifolds are Maverick/Comet specific and will have to be sourced used. You could get a set and have them tied unto your existing exhaust if it's still in decent shape.

I'm not sure that this answers your question, but I was able to install my C-4 onto a 302 without moving the engine. I have Heddman 88300 long tube headers and I believe I loosened them to get it in (can't remember). There were no pipes downstream of the headers yet and I don't have power steering. It was not easy and I had to rotate the C-4 some, but it made it.

The exhaust is 304SS, mandrel bent, and tig welded. All custom built but it fits well and it can be removed and installed without taking half the engine apart.

I know it's been in the shop a long time, but it looks like it may be worth the wait! What a nice system!!!

The workmanship is beautiful ! We used the same principal of "Mandrel Bends" on our last three builds ..It takes a little more time but you see the results of patience and skill in the photos posted. Nicely done Sir :

yea those look great, I found some shorty headers for these cars out of summit, and there not too pricey. and I wanted to go with those but I guess my real question is what works good form after the manifolds. as in is there any pre made system that I can purchase and just put it together or is it going to be better to get it to some muffler shop.

Wow, I was going to post pictures of mine until I saw this. Perfection! Mine is mandrel bent too from a summit generic 2.25" SS kit attached to the carbon steel Hedman headers. Two of us spent about 8 hours fitting, cutting, tacking and welding everything downstream of the header connection. But it does not have the precise fit and clean look yours has. My only consolation might be that I saved some money. If I didn't, mistake 10+.
