http://www3.epa.gov/nonroad/2002/f02045.pdf primarily applies to cars built in 2006 or later.. but we all know how this will end up if we give them an inch.. they will take a mile from us.
you notice theres no mention of how much money this is going to cost us in taxes to ADD this regulation and how much were going to have to pay for the STICKER theyre already doing stuff like this in california. go summit youll see a stupid little note on some parts that say they may not be available or legal for emission controlled vehicles and some parts they cant sell you if you live in california I swear its all stupidity and useless. the whole smog thing is BUNK I CAN PROVE IT.....I bought a truck that came from washington state and when I took it to get snogged it passed the emission test but they couldnt issue me a smog certificate because it failed the visual test due to missing parts. I asked whats missing they told me EVERYTHING. there was no smog pump no charcoal canister no cat NOTHING EMISSIONS RELATED and it BLEW THERE TEST AWAY it ran at almost nothing compared to what the minimums were one part was something like 150 parts per million and it ran at ike 12 parts per million
Totally misguided ... someone who is not a car enthusiast thought this was a good idea and set it into motion. When they actually realize how little use a dedicated race car actually gets compared to a daily driver, they would see the whole exercise is pointless. And like Will said .... what defines a racecar? .... there is a whole gradient scale there. I got this info emailed to me via SEMA already. My signature is on the petition. Smog tests ... I favor a results-oriented approach ... pass the sniffer, pass the test. Unfortunately, these tests can be passed by a temporary tune. Volkswagen is the ultimate proof of how that can be done.
signed. those jerks ]are tying to take our fun away.. I don't race but I want my aftermarket parts, and the freedom to change my car.
Sooner or later an 06 will be a classic car. But if the bill passes you won't be able to hot rod them. It's sad we pay our politicians to take our freedom away.
Blame the diesel truck guys who blind people or "roll coal" with their soot just because somebody's driving a Prius... ...signed the petitions probably a week ago (White House and change.org). Stuff like this just comes up every once in a while.
