Wanted to touch up some stone chips on my original paint today. Went to buy some paint but as you know in Canada we can't get an enamel or acrylic enamel paint anymore. The touch up sticks you buy at Canadian tire are not supposed to be used on our paint either. What is a guy to use ? Thanks

So you are saying they don't sell touch up paint in Canada.....it is illegal?

I had a couple of cans of Grabber Yellow enamel made up at Car Quest here in town...

I'm not sure what the deal is in Ontario, but you should be able to go get any automotive parts/paint store to mix up some paint for you.

    You're always welcome here.

Thanks Paul. In Canada since 2011 you cannot buy or spray lacquer paint. All paints sold now are water based paints. Is this the same in the states??? So I went to auto paint store to get some touch up paint for my 76 mav. She said it was 42.00 for a spray can. I said why so much? She said it comes in 2 parts the paint and the clearcoat. I said I don't want clearcoat because the cars not clearcoat and will look weird and not match. She said you have to or the paint won't last with out clearcoat. So what the heck is a guy to do? Confused

You either need to talk to someone else who understands you just want a single stage acrylic.. or find another paint store that has more competent employees. Lol

Do you need enough that it has to be sprayed?.. or will a touch up pen do the trick?

Beauty of the pens or vials with built in brushes is that you can overfill the chips and then come back to wet sand and buff them back down for better blends and discreet looking touchups. Spray paint can't adequately fill chips and won't seal/pin the chips edges down very well at all. And that can lead to future adhesion issues as it continues to grow and delaminate the paint chips edges. Plus they'll have a scaled look if they aren't feathered and layed out prior to spraying larger areas.

Express Paint has touch up pens as well as spray paint for most of the Maverick colors. It is somewhat pricey because they use an expensive brokerage company to ship to Canada. Check out expresspaint.com.
