congrats! i was lucky enough to finish my comet before our son arrived. now it's my econo project that's on hold
We've moved! We successfully made the 3,400 mile trip from Anchorage, Alaska, to Reno, Nevada, last week and Argent is safely tucked away until we find a new home.
argent would like to take a trip to california to meet new friends since youre only about an hour away (depending on how fast you drive) welcome to the part of the world where you can actually go outside without 15 coats lol
Thanks everybody, we're looking forward to the new phase of life here. Thank you! It's hanging out in a barn in Carson City for the time being, it just needs a place to call home before I can continue work on it. I'm already loving seeing all the classic hot rods driving around town, and the Lamborghini that was broken down between Reno and Carson City on Monday afternoon! I did. It was just partially reassembled for the move so it doesn't have the quarter windows installed and there were boxes of parts inside that I would hate to lose so the cover was a cheap anti-theft deterrent for anyone who might have wandered by. Plus it was fun having people walk up and ask what kind of car was hiding under the cover.
Not the most exciting update, well for me it is, but after 850 days in storage with nothing but spiders and dust bunnies to keep her company she'll be coming home next Tuesday.
I look forward to seeing what you do with your 69.5. I lost mine 11 years ago to a little hurricane called Katerina. I will be starting my new toy soon also a 71 grabber good luck with your project
Thanks! Haha, that's how I felt while I was towing it home. Got her home without incident and unloaded all the stuff I had packed away inside. I was pleasantly surprised at the lack of critters and creepy crawlies after sitting exposed for two years.
I have everything pulled off of it again and started to take stock of what needs to be taken care of. I think I've decided to just clean everything up and reassemble it back to the way it was 46 years ago (with the exception of upgrading a few safety related things like brakes) to get it back to a driveable state until I finish school and go back to work to finance my pipe dreams. It's actually not in bad shape. It has the popular lower quarter panel rust, and the driver's side quarter panel and both fenders have some old damage, but the torque boxes look OK, the floor is clean, the cowl has no issues , trans was fine when I quit driving it, and with a re-ring and a carb rebuild the engine should be good to go again.
