Will this spindle work with our cars? Maier Racing has been working on a NEW 1″ drop spindle for the 1965-70+ Mustangs. Available NOW~1) We took a 1967 spindle design and changed it over to a 71-73 snout (bigger bearings). 2) We can sell them with our without brake mounts. The current off the shelf item is compatible with Wilwood brakes and hubs. 3) We moved the steering pick up point in 3/8″ for quicker steering and to help with tie rod end clearance. 4) We raised the snout 1″ to lower the car 1″. 5) NO NEED for the Shelby drop. KEEP the stock geometry for the upper and lower control arms. 6) Not every rim but… we have 18″ wheels now fitting over the upper ball joint and you can get bigger wheels under the car. In some cases you can get as much as 2″ of rim inboard. 1965 Mustang with 18 x 275 tires with stock or “minimal” massaging on the fender lips.
I already have 1" drop springs and I have already cut them down. I just would like to know if it's interchangeable with our vehicle.

I think their spindles give you a 2" and they're based off the Granada design IIRC right. I wish I could afford them but that's Redonkulous money for just drop spindles .... would build a coil over or air ride setup before just static dropping a Maverick for the additional money
Global West has been working on a modular aluminum spindle for these cars for some time now. Been a while since I yanked their chain to get an ETA. Give them a call and yank away so they quit dragging their feet! http://www.globalwest.net/
2" is a lot considering it seems I'm really low already. This 1" would be perfect. I will contact Global West tomorrow. But all the info I have seen states the spindles are the same and same geometry.
See you didn't initially say you have any previous lowering or drop but I'll still try to help you http://www.stylintrucks.com/Articles/0406_suspension_glossary.aspx <- that explains everything front suspension wise from the shock, the spring, the drop spindle etc pretty much universal to most cars with slight differences but general idea anyways. You retain the factory geometry IF you just add a drop spindle to a factory spring & shock setup BUT it moves the wheel up say 1" if you have 1" drop spindles (most pointless drop spindle in my opinion) and once you add drop springs, & lowering shocks to match then the geometry changes because then you're limiting the travel with the spring & shock's full extended travel which is now shortened by what ever drop you chose them in. I used to static lower S10 & mini trucks on 2" spindles when they're available, 1" springs so they would retain their ride quality, and pretty much stock shocks but just better quality with a bigger sway bar and shortened end links the trucks would then steer like they were on rails through twisties until the ass end would break traction like our Mavericks & Comets can do being light in the rear. That's a 3" drop Now adding 2-3" lowering blocks or angled lowering blocks to rear with a axle on leaf setup would pretty much put you where ever you pointed it to because it pretty much lowered the trucks to level where they were usually always raked factory. Sound familiar to Maverick & Comets . It all boils down to how low is too low .... if there's such a thing , how wide of a tire ya wanna run up front, and your driving conditions & habits
I have 255/35's on a 18x9 rim. I would like to get a 275 on a 18x9.5 or 18x10 rim. The auto cross is starting to look like fun.
From my understanding of what I've read here there's No Way of running a 10" wide rim on these cars without serious modification = to the inner wheels wells on the rear and moving the leaf springs inboard 3" and with that being said I still don't remember seeing anyone who has said they run a 10" wheel. I may be wrong there. Upfront I don't see why you'd want that wide of a tire but maybe I'm confused ... even with a Mustang II suspension for anything auto x included Got any pics of the car with the 18x9 ?
18x10's are really pushing it. I don't see them fitting without frame mods. But I would like a 275 on a 18x9.5. I believe this spindle will allow a wider front rim/tire combo for me. I don't have any pics with the new wheels. My gallery shows with 17x8's and 18x10's. Now I have 18x9's and 18x12's.
You're definitely looking at major mods body and suspension then buddy It's not my car but I would suggest since it looked so clean in the gallery to just sell the 2 - 18x12 and get them in a 18x10 and run them staggered IF you're certain you can clear the 10 & the 9.5 in front. Your gallery said you had 18x10 in the rear with 295/35/18 so you know you can pull that off already with a 275/?/18 which should give that nice little lip difference up front with the rims . Nice Comet .... I wouldn't hack it to hell for the sake of just adding rim widths but it is yours lol
The rear rim/tire combo works great. It's just the front I want to change. But i will have to change suspension parts also.
I've been looking into a lot of suspension parts as well, hoping to have a track/autocross maverick ready by next summer, I've heard good things about maiers product. Just call his shop, I'm going to try to go 18x10 275 up front and 18x11 with 315 out back
Anyone have a set of fatman fab drop spindles for sale? Currently out of stock at fatman, and I really need some drop spindles to complete my front suspension upgrades. Or anyone have luck from Global West?
