That seller has some dirty old 8" rears with a 'buy it now' of 199!
Some 8" chunks for 145... 279 open chunks!

This guy is proof positive that PT Barnum had it dead on.
"There is a sucker born every minute"

This guy is probably getting the stuff at the junkyard and then ebaying it for twice what he paid...

I don't know if they are worth $294, but this included "new" rebuilt calipers, turned rotors, etc, etc. Most of the front disc stuff I have seen on Ebay looks like it was just taken out of the car...so I would have expected these to go for higher...

Yes Mark, you are right about them being much better than the average junkyard pull. But, I just checked Auto Zone and NAPA parts online and here is a breakdown on parts.

$78 pair - New rotors (not cut old ones)
    $30 pair - rebuilt calipers
    $12 set of 4 - brake pads
    $12 - new seals

$132 total plus you need a set of spindles, which aren't hard to find.

Besides the bid amount of $294 - add that $70 shipping to it! That is pretty high. I bet too, that it was not a Maverick guy but a Mustang guy that bought them. Mustang guys are used to paying high prices for everything.

By the way Mark, I have always really liked your yellow and black paint. Very sharp! (y) I will be doing a different shade of yellow and black myself.

Heh...yeah, any way ya look at it, too many $$$. A better deal for the lazy person who just wants to bolt the stuff on I guess...
Thanks on the compliment about the color scheme on my car. It's funny..when I decided to have it done like that I had more than a few people express their dislike of the color yellow. Seems like I am seeing more and more yellow and black cars over the past year, including a couple of real sharp '05 Mustangs, one yellow with a black convertible top. I guess it is kinda the new trend... :D

    I still don't buy it...
So he says it has rebuilt calipers. It was someone he knew that he considers good at it, that doesn't mean he did a good job.
The rotors have obviously been turned, BUT were they within tolerance to do so?
He "packed" the bearings. That doesn't mean they were good.
Heck, he didn't even try to clean the dented up dust caps. If he put anything other than an ebay build on these things he would have sprung for a new pair of caps.
    Brake pads are dirt cheap.
I have always been the type person that has to be hands on to know things like this were done right. It would be too nerve racking for me to buy these over the net. I would at least have to see them in person before spending that kind of dough.
I get the impression that the seller only did enough to satisfy an ebay sale.

The buyer is restoring an old Falcon. (I snooped into what they have been buying on ebay)

Acorn is dead on with those prices. I have been checking.
A good tip for anyone looking into this is that stores don't even charge cores on these parts anymore. At least not here.
So if you can just get the spindles, you are doing good.
To pay extra money or shipping for the other heavy parts is a waste when you can't even get core value on them.

Probably has more then 1 set to sell. If people are willing to pay it, he's probably whipping up a set for each auction.

I like how the seller makes it all ok by offering a proportioning valve for free with buy it now:hmmm: I just bought two Granadas for $200 and all i wanted was the brakes.

    I paid $250 for a 75 Comet and got:

Full Disc Brake Setup and 5-lug setup
Rear Defogger, wiring, switch and dash bezel
    Mint Heater Box Assembly
Mint complete set of Weather Stripping

All of this is now in my 1971 Grabber ...

Also made some of my money back selling most of the black interior pieces I didn't use since they were in really nice condition ..

Here it is in the background ... I had just finished my motorcycle and was taking some pics with Colton on board ...

I wish I had kept the chrome rocker covers and wheel well trim before I gave it away .... oh well ...
