I have a red top, it's been in the car for about 6-7 years. it's down to 11.3 volts so I'm thinking I may need a new battery soon.
is one better than the other for a car?

Well I take it yours is still starting so it's probably OK, but here is a video on how to recharge a dead one that won't recharge...

I've never owned a AGM battery, one in my Comet came from Sam's Club in '05, still cranks fine... Last time I checked still had 12.6v at rest...

thanks for the vid. I recharged it the other day and yesterday it was down again. I have a disconnect on my system so I'm thinking it's not a drain. it clicked several times before engaging and then started. after the recharge the other day it would fire right up.
on the way to Summit this morning for a new one.
    Red, Yellow or Blue top?

good choice, redare for starting, blue are for deep disharge / deep cycle as in a house battery in a trailer or a boat, and yellow are in between, being a starting baattery and a deep cycle, like you sit and listen to the radio in your car and also want to start.. I ran a yellow a left over from a job it was fine. Any of them will easily start a car, but the red will do it better / more years.
Next time (8 years or so ,lol) buy a Odyssey battery they are superior.

I have a yellow one. The yellow optima battery is a deep cycle battery and you let drain and recharge many times. The one if you don't drive the car all the time

    Neither. Odyssey batteries are better.

Never had a problem with it. Yellow is the best for rechargeable. Red is just for daily use. All preference. But I like them. I did researched before I but the yellow one. I wanted a deep cycle battery and never let me down.

I haven't had very good luck with yellow tops. The first one I had was good for 5 years. The last few I had have managed maybe 2 years. Not made like they used to be.

Never owned one, my Comet has a Walmart battery I bought in Sept '05 for my Cobra Jet... Now 11+ years it still spins over just fine(no doubt on borrowed time, probably repl next spring)... At 8 years and 5 months the Advance battery just died in my old F-150, bought the wife a new Walmart battery for her Grand Marquis and swapped her 6+ year old Walmart batt into the truck... The Advance battery and battery from wife's grand Marquis were both mfg'd by Johnson Controls, generally good products... I believe one in Comet was mfgr'd by Exide

Well I need a new battery... No not for the Walmart Stupid Crank that was 11 years old in Sept, the eight year old Motorcrap in my Cobra has done just that, crapped... Since it's so nice(and stuff is sweating inside the garage), decided to start them both... Comet had no issues, battery in Cobra Jet barely burns the dome light(no I didn't bother checking voltage, no doubt less than 3-4)... After the Comet got it run, I swapped batteries, old Cobra Jet fired right up...
