Ok I have been looking to see if my 71 is a true grabber or not and the things I have been seeing says if it had a "93" in the vin number then it's a grabber now my other car it's a 75 and the guy i got it from didn't tell me it is a grabber and it has the same "93" in the title so does that make the 75 a grabber also? The vin is "5k93f161443"

Yep. "93" is a Grabber (except for 1970).

Yes, the 75 VIN you posted is a Grabber. 1970 Grabbers were introduced mid-model year 1970 and did not have a unique body code. 1971 and 72 were the ONLY two years that Grabbers came with a Factory Grabber hood. 1970-1973 all had the rear spoiler. 1975 was the last year for the Grabber, seeing the lowest model year production of 8,473 Grabbers.

What's the VIN on your 71? It may be close to mine or someone else's...

So if I have a 71 maverick (1k93l108330) and it has 93 it's a Grabber even if the l means it's a 250 engine.. so not all Grabber were V8??

It's a Grabber, and more Grabbers had 6-cylinders than V-8s. Many people have the misconception that the Grabber was a "muscle car" or performance package, when in reality, it was nothing more than a trim package.

Base engine for all early Maverick & Comet was 170 with three on tree... The 200 & 250 6cyl were optional, as was the 302 V8... The 250 was not available till late in '70 model year and 302 not till sometime early in '71 model year... Around '73/'74-ish the 170 was dropped and 200 became base engine, others still optional...

Yes, my wife had a 71 Grabber she bought new in 71 before we got married. It was a bench seat 200ci automatic and didn't even have power steering. It was strictly a trim package.

Well if it's a nice original car without mods or paint work, etc you'd probably be safe assuming it was a Grabber... Otherwise without a Marti report it's a gamble...
