no, i just didnt use the green circuit film that the gauge lights used. somewhere theres a post i made a few yrs ago where i show how i cut up the stock housing to mount my gauges. the fuel gauge is after market and i just wired it in using the wires that came off the back of it. didnt connect anything to the green circuit film.

as for the blinkers, i did use the green circuit film to make those work.

but like i said the aftermarket fuel gauge worked fine until a few months ago and then it started sticking half way. i cleaned the connectors under the tank and it worked fine again for a few days. now its wrong again. im going to put on a new push connector.

EDIT if i remember correctly i DID run a wire from the back of the new fuel gauge to the wire that connects to the fuel float on the back side of the tank underneath. so im assuming it has its own regulator built into the gauge housing. i took the door kick panels out and lifted the carpet a little to find the wire. the connector under the tank is loose feeling and corroded. ill replace when i have time and repost here.

OOOOOOoooohhhhhh... :slap: I don't believe that I read the original post. Unless the gauge manufacturer detailed to install something else, it sounds like you installed it correctly. Since they use very low currents, it is important to have good connections.

So I took off the wires to the sending unit and the fuel gauge still is reading over full. Does this rule out the sending unit. Am I looking now for a bad wire or ground?

Sounds like the wire from the sending unit to the instrument panel is shorted to ground. Could be a cracked or striped insulation that frayed wire and is making contact to the chassis. Also, if you had the connector off at the instrument cluster, see if the connector is not misaligned to the contacts on the circuit board.

Sorry to keep asking questions about this. But there are two wires coming from my sending unit. Most of what I see in instruction videos have one wire. What are the two wires. Is one hot and one ground?

One of the wires should be a ground. See where it goes - possibly to a location on the chassis. I've never seen two wires from a sending unit, perhaps other members have two...?
It might be possible, that the wire connection at the sender got reversed, putting the "hot" of "gauge" wire to ground.
