Just removed the 3/4 plywood holding the speaker mounted under the rear window. Could I get pic from someone as to what should be there or what it is made of. I will go back with speakers in time.
Scoter, I'm not sure what you are asking for. Are you asking how speakers are mounted or are you asking about the original board that is in the rear parcel shelf? I have lots of pictures and will try and find something for you if you can just clarify the problem and what you need. Micah
Going by your question, I am imagining that a lot of the underlying metal got chopped out? Especially when 3/4 ply was used. Pictures of what you are looking at would help. The original setup is a stamped steel frame with punchouts for the speakers, and it is covered with a pressed fiberboard panel that was painted to match the interior color. If you have an earlier car, (up to 72?) I believe the speakers were some unique size, too, not 6x9, but slightly smaller. I believe in 73, the openings were made to fit 6x9s. I mounted 6x9s under the opening in the frame, instead of inside there, because they were too large. I took the original parcel shelf and covered it in black speaker cloth, and this hid the speakers. http://mmb.maverick.to/resources/hidden-rear-speakers.1/
All original metal is still there. CaptainComet put up some pics of what I was looking for. Thanks everybody
