Still piddling with this car,but need a bit of advice. On my car, everything looks great. Before I replaced the fusebox,I had the same problem. When the headlight switch is plugged in,the markers and taillights, the front markers, and the parklights and the dash lights are always on. Removed brake light switch connector,so as to rule that out, still on. I can turn on the dome light, turn it off. Headlights work normal, and have a new dimmer switch. Whats weird is I can use the dash light dimmer to dim all park and running, taillights, and turn them off. If I turn the dimmer up,they all get brighter... Can't turn them off until I dim them all the way down, disconnect the HL switch,or pull the battery cable... I keep thinking buy a switch, but wanna hear from y'all before i pull the trigger... Thanks,Skip...
What is it with all the wierd lighting issues lately??? There must be a perpendicular, reverse inside angle of moon to earth... I'd like to say something is miswired... BUT I can't think of a reason that dimmer and park would be continually hot... If power is continually on the dimmer circuit either the switch is defective or it's for wrong application... Which mystifies me AFAIK Ford light switches from around '65 through most of the '70s were same...
Yeah, thats me... I searched the forums and thought,"did we have a solar flare?"... It is the original switch and wiring, best I can tell. Looks to me like I'm the first to do any wiring... Maybe we have just reached a "service limit" for our wiring, and now its about that time... I'm no stranger to DC wiring(see also model railroad as another hobby)... My model RR wiring makes this look like childs play... IDK,was there from the get go,gotta be the switch... Geeze, that thing must have unobtainium in it... $30... I guess if your gonna play you gotta pay...
Being as you have good electrical troubleshooting skills, I'd remove switch and jump power to dash and then park lights(yellow to brown & red/blue)... As long as there is no interaction between the two, replacing switch should fix it... I can't remember if this diagram I made is pin view of plug or switch but you should be able to figure it out...
That sealed the deal, headlight switch... Dunno why i didn't think of that earlier... Too many things going on in my head, like a marble in a can some days... Thanks again...
