I twisted the Comet pretty tight one night last week
and my oil light came on. I run the light and a mechanical
gauge. I got out of it and checked the gauge it was still
over 45 lbs. at that point. I have the stock oil pan. I think
I may have sucked all the oil out of it as the oil level was
at the top of the safe zone when I stopped to check it.
My machinist assures me that everything should be fine.

Any opinions on deep 7 or 8 qt. pans? I have seen some
that are flared at the bottom, I like that idea better.
Will they fit on these cars?
I REALLY like the COBRA aluminum pan but they are not
cheap at all. $325 plus the pickup extender.

    Thanks,

    Seth

I don't know man....unless you plan on "twistin" it a lot, I'd stick with your stock pan. BTW....I love a good "twist" once in a while.:D :D Good for the soul.

I've done this in my mav, with the same result. I ve had the same motor in the car for the last 5 years with no problems. My friend had the same problem as both of us and he solved it. He has a 70 mav with the deepsump 6.5 quart from summit racing and he dosen't have this problem anymore, using the pickup to match. cost him like 250 total.

You can get a deep sump pan much cheaper (got mine less that $100) than the Canton and I think it's looks and works just as good. It also comes with the pick up. It takes a little manuevering if your setting the complete engine in but it will go in and has plenty of room once it's in. Here's a pic of the one I purchased from eBay and here's a link also for one of them now listed.
