I'm posting the announcement for this fun Maverick Comet Club International (MCCI) August event because it doesn't get any coverage here on the site. If I'm breaking the rules of either the MCCI or the site I'm confident someone will give me a slap!!!! If you are not a member of the MCCI you are missing out on a lot of fun! My wife and I just got back from the MCCI National Round-up held in Dayton Ohio this year. There were almost 50 Mavericks and Comets. A number of persons came without their vehicles as they were in some state of disassembly. Also the weather was threatening but turned out great. A father and son team drove their Maverick all the way from California via route 66 across the desert in 103 degrees with no air to make the event. That is dedication! There were 7 Mavericks and Comets in the show along with their original owners. One of those 7 is a 427 FE car that had that FE installed back when the car was new. Next years National Round-up event will take place in Virginia. There are MCCI mini meets like the one in this flyer that take place all around the country. If you haven't seen a large number of brightly colored Mavericks and Comets in one place then you are just missing out! All levels of build are welcomed. You do not have to have a show quality car. Bring your race car, your daily driver, your barn find, your beater we don't care we are Maverick/Comet people! If you wish to take part in these events or see the pictures and read the details in the bi-monthly newsletters; join the MCCI either on-line, by mail or at an event. http://maverickcometclub.org/membership/ http://visitgenevaonthelake.com/ Come join the fun!!!!
FULL up-to-date details on this event (as well as ALL our events) including a map on how to get to them, can always be found on the MCCI website.
Just trying to keep this post in front of Maverick/Comet owners in the northeast Ohio area. This is usually a one day event on Saturday. Come for one day or stay for more. http://visitgenevaonthelake.com/
For those coming from the Western Pa or Youngstown/Warren areas, I recommend you take SR 534, which passes right by Chops restaurant (meeting point) and ends at the GOL strip. The trip up 534 is pretty relaxing (no detours this year) and takes you through a large Amish community (watch out for the buggies) and wine making area. Depending on where you pick it up, you'll also pass Mike Tyson's mansion, which is now a church.
I plan on going with 2 cars (70 and 72 maverick ) I was going to go to the round up on Saturday but the weather from Cleveland to Dayton was terrible that day driving 3hours in heavy rain didn't sound like a good idea, Geneva is only an hour for me.
