So wondering how long a crate engine can sit before any rubber or seals start going bad.

Id like to order it now and have it in my garage ready to go but its likely I wont install it until another 3-6 months. Now I dont have to order now but I am getting itchy lol.

Also I'm wondering how long the wait is once I place the order. This will be a blueprint 347 going through jegs.

I wouldn't think 3-6 months of sitting would hurt anything but, I'd ask the manufacturer if you're concerned. If they don't know ...

Keep in mind that the warranty starts at time of delivery. If it sits for six months before you run it you’ve burned that much warranty time.

If the builder breaks in the engine before it ships it shouldn’t be a problem. If the assembly hasn’t been run, over time the lube can run into the pan and hurt the initial break-in. Don’t know what kinda time frame that would take though.

    Hi Satch:
Been reading your posts . I'd be curious as to HOW the seller of a 347 Stroker performs any BREAK IN procedures Before you receive it ? Did JEGS offer to do this ? I purchased a 347 4bbl Carb Stroker with Good Heads from Coast Hi Performance in California years ago and the engine lasted about 10,000 miles before it destroyed itself. Just replaced that one with a Fuel Injection 331 Stroker that WE built ourselves in our shop ! THEN we broke it in with some easy stop and go miles..No Long steady runs .. we're about 1100 hundred miles now and we're taking it to the Dyno in two weeks to set up the computer and chip. So Far .. no problems . minor valve cover leaks at first .. tightened the bolt and that stopped it ! We put it up on the lift and everything else looks really good . Engine is real responsive. No leaks , sounds great and we're looking forward to ' dialing it in ' . I wish you success with your purchase and I'd recommend getting some ' referrals ' from whoever you select. Just my take on it Bob. It's a huge investment and I'm sure you already realize this.

The seal leak issue is mostly a myth, assuming dry storage, a engine with modern seals could set 10-12 years or more without issues... You'd want to pre lube it before starting but that should be done reguardless... Only thing I'm uncomfortable about is valves that were open, if I were going to long term storage a engine, I'd back off all the rocker arms...

the company is blueprint engines. they do a dyno run with it before they ship it and give you the stats. so yes itll be ran before i get it.

for the others who replied, ill wait until im ready, i didnt think about the warranty time running down while i wait to install it. ill just have to tinker with other things until then. this hernia recovery is still going on so i was just trying to get everything lined up. so yes, ill just wait.
