I’m looking to ditch the factory harness, which aftermarket harnesses have you guys used. This is for my 71 comet that’s fuel injected with fitech and has aftermarket gauges.
I bought one from Speedway, had great reviews and was much more reasonable than the big name products.
It hasn't been done yet but it will be much easier than the American Autowire kit I had to use on a friends Jeep. That kit had screw terminals on the fuse block for each circuit which I was not impressed with. The Speedway kit is much like the Painless kit I installed on a Factory Five Cobra which was a breeze. This is the kit I bought, it is good quality and will do everything I need on the car. https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Speedway-Universal-22-Circuit-Wiring-Harness,229874.html
It is great... if you are going for a total rewire... A friend of ours installed them for us. He mentioned how much he liked the ease of install. He removed the factory harness and he even used the factory plugs (no butt splices).
I bought the Kwik Wire 20 circuit budget harness. I'm in the process of installing it now. I looked at a bunch of them and decided on Kwik Wire. Didn't like the $475 price tag on the Ron Francis XP67, nor did I care for the screw terminals, (just my opinion.) For the same amount of circuits, the Kwik wire budget harness was $280. The quality is excellent. I also wanted to modify the circuit box so I called up Kwik Wire and had to leave a message. Within 20 minutes they called back and told me what I need to do. Great customer service so far. I'm about to call them back for another mod I want to do. We shall see if the good service continues. The budget part comes in if you get the kit without the cover, a built in coil cut off switch, mounting bracket, and speaker wire. All are things I didn't want or need. I will build a console and put the fuse panel behind a panel.
Finally called them to get some connectors to wire a ground for digital flashers. They are sending me what I need free of charge. Great customer service continues.
I have seen there products at NSRA fall meet in Kalamazoo, MI. Their products seem to be something I wud have no reservations on purchasing. I have talked w/ them and purchased some of the electrical stuff they sell. Great to know customer service is top-notch. Also, I IRC harness are made in USA!
