...lol.. pretty much sums it up right there.

That poor car. Some dimwitted hack ruined it just enough to surely end up at the crusher.

Just think, had the Doc used a Maverick, our cars would be worth a fortune...;)

Bet that transaxle has the kit installed that mounts a V8 to the front (interior side). Cool idea, poor execution.

Corvairs didn't have a V6, they had horizontally opposed six cylinders.

Someone spent a lot of time on the car for nothing. They made that Maverick unsafe at any speed including stationary!

Corvair had lights like that too - but the angle is wrong to see the lens fully to tell for sure.

.... so it very well could be a V8 / Corvair transaxle conversion in a Maverick 'shell' ,,, that makes it a unique if questionable fabrication. Sometimes it's not could it be done but - should it be done ,

That Maverick probably has a Crown conversion kit. A Corvair motor would originally be all the way in the back of the car. With the conversion kit, the transaxle is flipped over so it faces forward and puts the engine in what was the back seat area. This kit can still be purchased.

If someone wanted to do a back-halfed Maverick, this looks to be an OK start. Hack out everything done back there, sell off the transaxle, and start over. As it is, there doesn't look to be enough room for an engine and a seat. Look at where the armrest is versus the hole in the floor. Someone would have to be very short to drive it. In the Corvairs, this was tight, but I think the rear wheels were further back in those cars.

Most of the cars in the ad with the 57 Chevy leave me speechless. The guy sure likes wings.
