I will keep it in mind. My car is currently ready for paint and I was hoping to have everything done all at one time. Ive already postponed paint once and now Im going into my busy season so it may never get done now.

Does Maverick man still produce Maverick parts?

Any deals still going on on these hoods? Interested but now there is a steel option available as well.

I have tried to purchase a carbon hood twice and both have had defects. Im pretty much going to have to go the steel route

Thanks for the first hand experience Static, this is not a cheap purchase. Sounds like i’ll have to take the same route.

No. Its not cheap. I feel if youre going to spend almost 1k on a hood it better be near flawless, especially if its going to be displayed unpainted like I was planning. I know the carbon fiber product is difficult to work with. See if anyone else may be interested, possibly setup a group purchase?

I'd roll on a group deal on a carbon fiber good.

Just curious Static, what were the flaws which caused you to return the hoods? My maverick will be a street/strip build and they might be flaws I’m willing to live with at a discount.

Me also. Theres a guy local here who has a hood and trunk lid by him and they look great. Looked back thru my emails. 1st time I ordered was October 2017. Hood was shipped to wrong person, was somehow damaged during shipping. Was told that there wouldnt be any more for a while. Was refunded. April 2018 I ordered again, defects where the hood scoops were. Would have been fine if I was going to paint, which Im not. Refunded promptly. At least he saw the defect and reached out before shipping. Id be in if you can get a GP together and I can get a good show quality hood.

Just for what it's worth .. I bought a Dynacorn Hood and Scoops and it fit GREAT .. Painted it to match my Maverick in time for the 2016 Hot Rod POWER TOUR . It was a big hit with the folks at all seven stops and points in between.. anyone commenting on the Maverick .. ALWAYS gravitated to the Grabber Hood .. Its Well Made .. It Fits .. and its METAL .. A satisfied customer here !!

I bought one of the first carbon fiber cowl hood with scoops that Derrick started out selling before he made the Grabber hood, it was beautiful, also bought the rear spoiler. Fitment of both items was good but not the best it could be. After a short period of time the hood suffered from delamination meaning the carbon fiber came loose from the under lying structure and left it white looking, the hood was not painted why would anyone want to cover up something that nice looking but areas that delamed could have been painted and still left a lot of carbon fiber to show the beauty.

The process may have changed as he produced more stuff but beware because there is no guarantee that it would not happen to your hood, I do not blame Derrick for this and loved the hood and just chalked it up to one of lives lessons, I have since sold the car so have no idea of how the hood looks today

I too was an ' early customer' of Derrik's carbon fiber items. I purchased a ' spoiler ' and ends to put on my 74 Comet
I had to elongate some holes on the " Ends " to get them to fit .. then exchanged the bolts that Derrick included with
them with some Studs . That worked quite well for securing them to the fender areas but never could get them ' aligned' properly .. The Trunk Spoiler was another thing .. Both the Ends , and the Spoiler were very 'thin' but I didn't think too much about that .. But when I had the entire car painted and when the spoiler was exposed to the Florida Sun in the lot it ' Warped ' ..Looked like a wavy road .. Of course I removed it along with the ends .. Hung them on the wall as a reminder . I purchased some REAL spoiler and ends later on and after some clean up and ' tweaking ' they are ON the car , Painted .. and without any distortion. I never sent the pieces back to Derrick nor did I call him . His shop is a looooong way from Florida . He didn't HAVE the hoods when I ordered the spoiler pieces and I'm grateful that I ' Didn't ' .. since the Dynacorn item is High Quality and fits great. Just my take on the ' carbon fiber ' stuff . I think it looks ' out of place ' when its on a car with painted areas elsewhere ..
