I bought a 72 comet 2 door. No gas tank, no motor. Came with long tubes. I bought a t5 and a 88 mustang with a bad tranny for the 5.0 motor. I'm in the process of rebuilding the motor with a cam, mass air, intake, heads, etc. The engine and trans should go together with no problems. But fitting it in the car what all will I need to get it to work? I have the motor mounts, computer, wiring harness, and a full motor. I know I have to change the oil pump and pan. Have to add a clutch system. I have the petals in, just need the hydro system for it. It's there anything I should know?

You have most listed basically, maybe think of a T5 cross member for older mustang swap, and driveshaft length altered. Depending on tailshaft of t5 you may need the proper spline output shaft yoke to your reconfiged driveshaft. Anyone else think of anything to add?

AFAIK all Ford T5 have a 28 spline output shaft, as did all C4...

The T5 will hit the top of the tunnel. Need to build or modify a trans crossmember. I modified a V8 piece.

Thank you. I'm looking for some 4 leaf springs right now, what part number did anyone use on summit? I'd use general springs, but they want $60 shipping while summit was 15 for handling. I bought springs I thought would work but they ended up being for a mustang so they are too short and the eyelet for the bushing are about one and a half times the size. Anyone have any advise?

I have General springs; I had to remove the bottom leaf because the car jarred my a$$ something terrible. Some folks seemingly have no issue w/ the stiff ride. I don' t know how they use their cars, I drive mine. I suppose they work well for the dragstrip where rode is smooth and only 1/2 mile stretch. Long story, short -- I would not buy them again for the way I use my car.

I'm building mine as a nice day and weekend toy, I still have my 4 door for my nice ride. But right now it's got 40 year old 6 cyl springs (if they were different) that sit with hardly any arch to them. And I'm expecting around 300+ hp, I have ladder bars for it, but still unsure what to expect.

Another question, what would be the best route for power steering? It had power steering before I got it, but was taken off at some point in time. He only took off the cylinder itself. Should I find another one, go with a powered steering box, or rack and pinion? I'd like to stay cheap, but if there is a easy swap from another car for rack and pinion, I would like that the mosy, I work in a junk yard if that helps

There are a few on the forum converted to R&P w/o going to the somewhat pricey options/kits. Do a
r&P search, lot's of info on this topic. Two people that comes to mind, 55Crownvic & Mavaholic. Since you work in a boneyard just might be what ur looking for. Don't know what you consider easy swap -- that all depends on one's mechanical and fabrication skills. Hope this helps...
