71 302 with a T-5. Lots of different versions of what works. Prefer shorties or try Y but ultimately will go with whatever works with this engine/trans combo. Assistance greatly appreciated!

I just finished installing Hedman ceramic 880 series on my 302. I have C4 and Borgeson power steering conversion. I don't know how they might work for your setup T-5/R&P steering. The only thing I had to remove was idle arm to get in on pass side. I did have to cut about 1/8" from collector flange cuz it was slightly resting on the steering box. If I had the OE box that may not have been an issue. I don't believe to many here have the same setup you describe; whatever you get, you may be the one of a few, who have it.

Thanks , appreciate fast reply . I am manual steering and manual trans (t-5 but it uses the 71 maverick factory clutch lever bracket since the car was stock with a 3speed manual). I see tons of previous posts regarding the Hooker comp’s and the hedman’s but all the comments were from folks who have automatics.

T5 in mine with '66 Mustang linkage, doubt if that makes any difference. Hooker 6901 headers.

Thanks BMcdaniel. Did you need to lift the engine on the drivers side to get them in, and how is ground clearance? Any other issues ....was any hammer massaging of the tubes needed? Very nice grabber you have. Bringing it to Carlisle in June?

I found that the easiest way to put them in is to have both motor mounts unbolted with a jack under the oil pan, sway the engine to the passenger side and install the driver's side first. No problem with ground clearance, one tube on the driver's side does get hit by a tie rod when you turn but it kinda clearances itself. LOL Some people using these headers don't have that problem but I did. We'll be in Carlisle.
