Finally making progress on the 351w swap. hopefully if all goes well we will have it running tomorrow. Do to my inexperience with 351w the project is a little (a lot...lol) over budget, But the wife has been awesome about the extra cost. I have worked a lot with 298/302 and 351cl and modified's. I though a lot of the 302 parts would swap over to the 351. Had to by new distributor, intake, oil pan, headers. 89 351w block bored to 360ci 9.5x1 compression. (new) wieindstealth intake (new) Blue Print street warrior heads. Howard,s cam .475/.475 lift 275/275 intake exhaust duration, duration at 050 221, 106 C/L 110 lobe separation. MSD rtr billet distributor Holly 650 dbl pump carb (new) Flow Tech SS shorty Ceramic headers, ( long tube headers now hit the frame)
Working on these cars sure can be an adventure...So i had to relocate my steering shaft, It used to run under the 6901s but the new shorties are in the way. I had to extend the shaft 6in to get around the new ones. but it did turn out nice. I had it up and running and did a little tuning on it. Then drove it to the muffler shop to get some tubes bent and hook the exhaust up, it sounds good. On the way back home the trans started leaking really bad. Long story short, i have a newlyrebuilt 69 V8 C4 and a new TCI street fighter torque converter. So tonight all i have to do is hook up my exhaust, add some fluid and hopefully it ready to go.
Looks really good and fairly easy with the front end you have. I'm doing a 351 swap also but gonna have struts.
That is the same for mine .... had to have a hood scoop. I have a low rise dual plane manifold, and been through several air cleaner combos. None would fit under the hood. Finally gave in, and added a carb spacer to help give the intake a boost it needs. Got a 10" filter and am now playing with the height to get the most possible area of the filter into the opening and directly in the air stream. I am changing to a Comet GT scoop, too, and it has a little more height than the one in my sig picture.
