My third member in the race car i bough is well... looks like a grenade went off. Sooo long story, Need some guidance. Car will be street and track, Motor should be around 600 hp (some day) I am thinking a nodular case, 31 spline axles and a Detroit locker according to my research. Does this sound like a fairly good route to sink $1600 into? Haaaa XD

Hey, If your gonna go 600hp, get 35 spline axles, locker will launch you straighter, be careful! Street wise, the locker is tricky in the turns, as it is exactly as stated, a ratcheting locking rear, not limited slip. You may want to keep with a good limited slip, less parasitic loss than a locker, and handles better on the street. Happy 4th of July, America! turn 'em, and burn 'em.

    It's gonna cost a lot more than $1600 for a race-ready 9-inch rearend.

I already have the housing ect, All I am in need of is the third member and axles. From my research the aluminum member require more maintenance than a nodular iron, im not sure how much of this is correct, that is why im trying to learn this now instead of later so I don't go wasting money. I also read some where "not sure if its true" But I heard that 35 spline axles may require a custom housing as well... or I may be thinking a custom carrier. Please correct me if im wrong.

It all depends on how much "Track" time you are going to do........if you are going to run about 600HP, 31 splined axles are fine, as with good quality aluminum center section, such as Strange etc.........again, using "quality" parts! Also, go to track and ask racers with similar set up that you will be running, what they recommend........
