I agree....looks solid in all the usual rust spots here in the rust belt.

Welcome from the Northeast. Personal opinion: i'd leave the patina. Good luck with the project. Can't wait to see the finished product!

The cars in great shape I recently got the 250 running that’s currently in it. The trans seems to shift in to all the gears I have not road tested it yet. But seeing as all that’s working I’m currently pulling the interior out to get the seats all re done and going to order a head liner and carpet kit for it while I’m waiting on the seats I’ll be rebuilding a 8 inch 5 lug rear end to convert the whole car to 5 lug I already bought the disc brake conversion for the front and I have a set of troque thrust wheels getting pouder coated for it. While I have it up I’ll take some more pictures to show progress and lack or rot

Congratulations on your find ! Reads like you're making some good choices. I recommend you NOT change the
Transmission fluid immediately ..maybe just the ' Filter ' ..Let it roll for awhile .

Thanks Cometized I will keep that in mind. I just got done ripping the seats out to take them to get redone just need to figure out how I want them to look. I am working on trying to find a full window seal kit for the car or I’ll just get them one by one if I need to. Also ordering new carpet and sound deading as well as a head liner. And for those who say the cats not worth saving and it’s to far gone I’ll include a few pics for the floor pan now that everything’s pulled out.

    Hi Carling:
Be sure to give your cowling area in front of the front windshield a WATER TEST to determine if those areas need some attention. Have someone pour a full gallon of water into the cowl vents, and the lower portion of your windshield areas and get ' Inside ' with a flashlight to examine the 'underside' of the cowl.. Hopefully , you won't have holes.. but if you do ... then it would be a good time to consider ' those ' repairs before going onto further 'interior' work. There are several options to deal with this and you'll find them on this forum .. Lots of folks dealt with this problem. It's common for OUR type cars and Early Mustangs also .
Just a footnote on the upcoming work you'll be performing on your Maverick ; I've performed similar work on four Mavericks in the past and I've found good results if after you've made the necessary repairs to the floors , I would recommend that you apply a generous amount of liquid OSPHO to all the areas of surface and other rusted areas and let it set for a day or so ..( It's a Rust Retardant ) After that ' dries ' , it will turn those treated areas Black .. dust it off and apply a coating of PAINT to those same areas.. The OSPHO can be purchased at any ACE Hardware in quart and gallon sizes and it's not too expensive .. You can Spray it on , or use a throwaway cheap paintbrush..After the paint dries , THEN put the sound deadening in the areas you're wanting covered. After that, I'd apply some ' insulation' which is in rolls or sheets to the floors before you install your carpeting . I also installed deadening and insulation to the ROOF areas on two of the cars and it's like a ' closet ' when you're driving on the road. : ) .... I wish you success in your projects !
