I got bamboozled on a trade. I traded my 73 Maverick, even swap. on a 94 Mustang GT convertible. The man told me that the Mustang was in perfect order. I even took it for a test drive and it ran decent enough. However, after the trade was done, I took it to have it serviced. That's when I started finding all the issues such as oil leaks, coolant leaks, different size tires among other minor things...annoying things. I went back to the guy and was pissed about him lying to me about the car. He basically said go F*** yourself. I got all the issues fixed on the Mustang including the rear main seal, timing cover gasket, new exhaust system, new upholstered back seat, new z-rated tires just to name a few, but I didn't want to spend money that I didn't really have. If I had that kind of money to spend, I'd have put it in the Maverick. If anyone out there has a Maverick and wants to trade for the Mustang, Please let me know. I miss my Mav. I kick myself every day.

    Thanks

Even if the trade for the Mustang turned out to be a fair deal I'll bet sooner or later you would still regret loosing the Maverick. A`94 Mustang GT convertible is just another face in the crowd, as of now it will not get the recognition of your Maverick.

Sorry, I probably just messed up your Mustang swap efforts!

The earlier Fox body, 5.0 Mustangs will be very collectable, whether that applies to the '94-'95 I dunno.

I consider '96-'98 mod motor Stangs to be a bad joke.

I agree, the early 4.6 cars might as well be an Escort, fortunately for him the 94 is still a 5.0!

    LOL

My neighbor that worked at a local auto shop brought a '96 by he was test driving after service, was approx two years old. I went after him with my wheezy E6 headed '86 GT. Other than 1.7 roller rockers and a cat back system, my car was stock(of course timing was bumped up). From a 15 mph roll I murdered that thing.

You're right Hotrock, but we all know it takes all kinds. Lots of mustang lovers. lots of maverick lovers, camaros, mopars, etc. I've had them all. The maverick I brought back from the weeds. I know what I had in it. I knew everything about it. Blood, sweat and tears and $$$$. It's sad that there's sorry ass people out there that take advantage of the elderly.

I doubt if he cared if you were elderly or young, his description of the Mustang "perfect order" would have been the same.

My stock `97 Cobra runs pretty hard. Of course it has almost 100 HP over the 4.6L 2 valve in the GT.

    I'd 'spect a extra 90Hp to be noticable. :cheers2:

Is that one of the 4V that was recalled for intake upgrade?

As far as buying, trading etc, it's always best to verify condition for oneself. The total number of liars, crooks, dishonest, or folks that plain just don't know, are probably greater than the honest sellers. If you can't check a car for yourself, have a shop or someone you trust look it over. Condition of tires should have been a obvious tip off.

Personally, I don't believe in trades -- sell for cash, you know what you got.

Ultimately, it's up to the buyer to beware.
Unfortunately, you made a bad choice.

I'm aware of the intake manifold and mufflers recall on the 1999 model year 320HP 4 valve Cobras.

My 197 Cobra has just 27K on the odometer. Real nice car to drive.
