Nice cars, I'm not a fan of the styling though. I do think tha absence of side marker lights is cool.
I seen that on YouTube awhile back, some nice cars. I was thinking about deleting the marker lights on my Comet........then I seen pictures & videos of Brazilian Mavericks without marker lights. I’m SOLD! It will be no marker lights for me and let the haters HATE!! I will also be making a few other lighting mods too, but you’ll have to wait and see.
The Maverick & Ford Galaxie/LTD are two of only three vehicles sold in Brazil that could be had with a V8. The other? Dodge Dart.
The V8 models are very few and highly prized, 302 had to be imported from US. At introduction there was a year long wait for delivery. You'd likely pay more for one in Brazil than in North America. Originally the Galaxie used the ancient Y block 272 or 292(discontinued in US '64) as those were in production in Brazil. All those were three on tree. When The 302 was imported for Galaxie I believe automatics became options. Brazil placed limits on amount of foreign parts that could be imported.
Yes, I understand that. I’ve never had a car inspected here in Michigan so I’ll throw caution to the wind. Thanks for your input.
Plus all were small bumper, another no pass. How 'bout ign sw, did they have locking columns? Collapsible column? Would also have to meet US smog requirements for given model year.
I'll tell you the things that I found interesting, which nobody has mentioned so far. At the 1:12 mark there's a Mav with a very Lincoln-like grille. I thought it was a custom one-off until I saw the same grille around the 4:00 mark. Another thing I saw a few times was the polished aluminum piece between the taillights. It looked to me like Ford used rocker panel covers across the back of the Braz Mav. I also noticed there were some Mavs that had side marker light deletes on the rear quarters, not just the front fenders. There's probably a few other things we're missing. It's like playing that game from the comic section of the newspaper where two similar pictures are shown side-by-side and you have to find the seven things that are different or missing.
Agreed. I've been a police officer for 29 years and unless you know all the traffic/safety laws from 50 years ago right off the top of your head, you're not even going to notice... or care, for that matter.
