Question, I have new roof rail weatherstripping (the weatherstripping that goes on the body to seal the top of the door). The 90 degree bend the WS has to make distorts the rubber when pushed into place, I can attach a picture if needed. Any suggestions on what you guys did when installing it? Any cuts that help at any points, or did you leave it like that and let it form itself into place with time and the door being against it? Thanks -Phil
I recently installed mine too. I just jammed it in as tight as I could and left it. No cuts. I dont think it is an issue once the seals get set in place with the door. Right now, my lower seals are really tight. I have to slam the door very hard. I'm hoping it will losen up with time. Micah
My last set were VERY tight, on my latest mav, I think I will try and trim the thick heavy ends, as that seemed to be where they were "binding" with the upper seals.
Just installed my roof rail seals. Only a couple problems, the new seal was about 1 inch too long in the front - not a big deal it just means the hole in the seal does not line up with the hole in the door for the push nut so I adhered it with weatherstrip adhesive instead of the push nut then just glued the push nut head on for appearance. The other problem is the thick rear end of the seal needed trimmed down to make it thinner as the door would not shut as is. For some reason I only had to trim down the drivers door seal even though both seals were the same thickness.
Question who’s the manufacturer of those seals , if I’m not wrong I remember a my Mavericks had the same problem ......
