Which Bell housing for a 170 6cyl and a c4 ?

    I think i got my hands on a rebuilt C4 trans. He says he has all the stuff except a bell housing and told me Id have to get it elsewhere. I looked at them but man there are so many diff types for a C4. What info do I need from him to know which bell housing to get for the C4 and my 170 6 cyl?

    Sorry if this is a dumb question, but im so new to this stuff.

    I may have one....but why not reuse the one currently on your old transmission? Not sure exactly what you are doing.

    yeah, sorry, going from a 3 speed to a C4. Just confused on the bell housing.

    you will also need the matching...motor plate and starter.

    The 170 and 200 use the unique 'small bolt pattern' C4 bellhouse developed for the early 60's blocks with only the small pattern - small block six block.
