Welcome to the forum. Thats too bad your engine cracked, but it looks like it is out and probably apart ....I think that is a good sign.

 

thank you, and i appriciate that. i posted a pretty good look at the project up til now on the new members forum. i actually am planning on pulling the motor out tomorrow/today, and getting it down to the machine shop so i can get this ball rollin.

Awesome 4dr build you got going on. Keep them out of the crusher and stop parting them out. 4 door Mavericks/Comets are the true unicorns. Love the lines and notch back style of the 4dr sedan.

 

I agree completely! They really do have some great lines for cars of their era! That is a great looking 4dr you have there. Seeing them in that good of a shape makes me happy! Id love to see another around. Every time i ever drove mine it attracted people everywhere i went. Gas stations, grocery stores, movies, etc. I thought it was really cool driving such a conversation piece. I love hearing stories, and heard a ton of them from old timers at gas stations about their old mavericks!
Really is a cool ride!

Machine shops taking a little longer with my block than I thought they were. Can't wait to get it back so I can post up some more work! Thanks for the motivation guys!

Finally! Got the call from the machine shop they got it finished!

Had to have the first cylinder sleeved, and the rest bored .30 over due to ovaling. I have a new set of pistons, and dropped off first half of the paymet to the machine shop

I will be picking it up around the 15th and starting the rebuild. I cant wait! Its like early christmas

 

Two many doors for me, but nothing like working on shorthorns under a tree. Keep up the good work !

 

I havent forgotten about the forum, this year has been a doozie so far, ive only made small progress on the maverick but some is better than none. I finally got the sucker out to my place from my dads. Ive had the engine on the stand in my shop for a hot minute now. The shop grew around it . Ive been in the process of clearing out the shop which required building another shop but now thats done. Got my heads ready with brand new springs, got the new hot cam in the block. Started putting the brand new pistons in and found that 2 of em had the rods on backwards so got to get that taken care of. Other than that, I got the rims and brand new tires that were off of my 2005 ford freestyle(nice car, but timebomb cvt transmission) part of what was clogging my shop. So I figured instead of buying brand new tires and using the cragers I have that have a few issues anyways, I would use my 17s. As we all know modern rims and macericks dont play well so I got a set of 2" spacers and threw the rims and tires on.

So tell me what ya think. The extra clearance is nice since my driveway is terrible, I don't really like the look, but it might grow on me. I plan on getting air shocks to lift the back up slightly, might give it a better stance, although the block will definitely lower the front a little. I'll try to get some more posted soon,

 

That sweet green Mav looks good. Correcting the rod issue, I'm sure you will do well with your blue ford door. Keep us posted.

 

It is hard to beat free parts.....if it doesnt grow on you it wont be painful to swap em out, and you can take your time until you run across something you cant live without. But....once the engine is in there, the stance will be looking so much better, they just might stay? 2" spacer sounds kinda big, but I truly know nothing about them. Glad your motor is coming back together.

You shouldn't do anything about the stance until you have the engine in the car. Then determine what you have.
