1970 manual drum to manual disk brake. Got spindles from 75 maverick. So I will need 75 outer tie rods correct?
If the Mav spindles are identical to Granada spindles, then yes. When I did mine, I also needed to get an adapter to hook up the flexible line from the caliper to my steel line, and I might have had to make it turn 180* on the end of it so the flex line ran properly.
Unless you are trying to go cheaper or already have most of the parts id suggest going with the wilwood kit. Its around $550 but it works with the stock maverick parts.... Even the spindle. Easy to put on too.
I have all the parts now original steering complete but new spindles from 75 maverick just wanted to know if outer tie rods from a 75 will work to the 69 1/2 inner tie rods ? Or do I need 75 inner tie rods as well?
Use the '70 outer tie rods, bolt it together. Only difference is slightly larger pin that fits into spindle. If you don't have them already, you'll need '70-later wheel bearings, those also increased in size in 1970. On My Comet I have '69 outer tie rods and '70-later inners. Brakes are '69 Torino, all steering linkage(other than outers) '77 Maverick.
I have '76 discs on my '70, they're probably the same as your '75 steering knuckles. I went with the '76 outer tie rod ends. There was a difference between them and the '70 tie rod ends, it's been too many years and I don't remember how they were different. Less than $15 dollars apiece for good Moog ends on Rockauto...
Ya I have a 75 and a 70 tie rod side by side and they are almost identical so I think that is what I will try. thanks
