2.79 ratio 8", what was in most Mav Comet. A/C cars usually got 3.00..

Thanks, now the hard one.....I want to put a shift kit in my c4. Are they all the same or specific to the trany. I tried to identify the trany but I'm not sure. It has a case fill tube and screw in modulator, the vent is on top so I know it's not pre 66. Ideas?

AFAIK shift kits are usually for pre 69½ & '70 later.

If it hasn't been rebuilt, there should be a tag on on bolt for tail housing that ID model. That said, if it hasn't been rebuilt it probably should be.

There are several different shift kits. Get a 70 up c4/c5. Don't be afraid to tear into it, they're pretty straight forward transmissions.

I seem to remember when I put in a Transgo kit the instructions had details for 2 or 3 different C4 valve bodies, and how to identify each one. The kit had parts that were unnecessary for the model I had. When it shifts at WOT, it is like a mule kick in the a$$.
