Obviously, performance upgrades are a good idea, but I know someone who ran a stock '67 C-4 behind a 351 Cleveland with dual quads in a race-only Maverick, and it never broke.
I saw a engine and trans pulled in a way that quite different.... They put the back tires up on car ramps to give themselves a better exit angle, rather than the usual way of tipping the motor and trans. I thought that was pretty brilliant. You don't have to get the motor and trans as high up in the air as you would if the car is level. Make sure the parking brake is set and all the wheels are chocked.
I know I'm replying to a somewhat old thread, but if the car hadn't been started in a couple of years and the trans started leaking, it was more than likely from the front pump seal, o-ring on the dipstick or rear output shaft seal. After setting in the dry heat of California for 2 years, I would have just replaced those seals. That's if the trans does only have 65k miles on it. - Matt
The car had been running the past few years. Rear main seal and leaky trans.... The shop should be finished with it sometime this week. Working the cowls this weekend...I'll post some pics.
Nice, I've got a ton of work on mine. Sold it 8 months ago and it's coming back home this weekend. Then it's going to need cowl work, floor pan work and trunk work. Just no outer body panel work.
