Nonvented gas tank

    I just recently purchased a replacement tank for my 69.5 or early 70 maverick. The company claims it was built for nonvented or the stuff under the hood. If I was to buy a gas cap is there anything special I need to look for? Dennis Carpenter has a nice looking cap but its its supposedly a vented cap for 70. Would that work or ?? Thank you all for your time and advice.

    If the tank is not vented. Then yes, you need a vented cap.

    Vented caps allow air in - but not out. There is a spring loaded 1 way valve in them.

    If you live in the city with vapor recovery gas nozzles, you will have a difficult time filling your tank without a vent.

    may I ask where you got the novented tank?
    most replacement tanks I've seen are vented.
