I spoke to that guy at the Good Guys show in October. There was not much of the car that was original, but it was impressive.
The Maverick body is probably the biggest limiting factor of that build....but IS what makes it cool at the same time.
Very cool car. Even the best looking, most popular cars have some aspect which is hard to deal with visually...either just because, or when modified. For example, I love the looks of the '57 Chevy but the taillights don't work for me. When it comes to the Maverick it's how to marry a splitter to a front valance in order to give the car a contemporary look. This is an awesome car, but I'm not wild about how the front end was handled. I've seen some done in an Eleanor style, but IMO that's overdone. The Sung Kang Project Underdog Maverick is on the right track, but that tacked on body kit/ricer look of the car doesn't much appeal to me. That splitter also hangs far too low for a street car. Honestly, I'm not sure where I'm going with the comments above...maybe I'm just kibbitzing.
I understand...I too have a hard time explaining how much I dislike this and the Sung Kang Project Underdog Maverick you are talking about. I've seen 4 dr. cars that looked better... I guess I'm just " kibbitzing" also...LOL
