Is it posssible to just pull the kickdown rod out and jb weld the hole closed? Its leaking from the 0 ring but i dont need the kickdown hooked up, as i manually do it. Can i justpull it straight out withoit hurting anything and sealing it up?

You should fix it the right way and replacce the O-rings. I doubt JB Weld would stop the leak, and it may cause other problems.

Yep. I just read from paul how it can effect pressure if its not used and eventually cause problems. Ill be fixing it now and hook it up as ford intended.

I believe I saw a video of replacing the O ring on Autorestomod

I ran a '69 Ranchero without the kick down for probably five years. No issue. The modulator effects line pressure at part throttle, not the kick down.

X2 on running for 5-6 years without it hooked up...no problems.

You don't have to have it hooked up. Just need to fix the leaks the proper way.

I have as well. No problems. If it did, then Ford wouldn't have made the option of manually downshifting via the shifter.

Just put a new oring in it and don't worry about it. Unless it's the shift lever seal leaking then that's harder to fix.

Not having kickdown will not hurt anything, but it's real simple to change the o-ring if that's where it's leaking.
