Hello, I am curious about a few modifications for my maverick.

First, I am looking to replace the C4 transmission with a C6 transmission. Do I have to make any changes to the transmission mounting to change it out?

Second, what is the best way to change the engine to fuel injection from the carburetor?

A C6 is physically too large to fit, at least without cutting. Also most C6 are for big blocks, usually the small block variety were used in trucks. Plus it'll probably be approx 3" longer than the C4. Unless you're making a insane amount of HP, a C6 in Maverick is a bad idea.

You could look into aftermarket kits for fuel injection. But with all the issues one of the long time members has with his, you couldn't run fast enough to give me one.

I'd keep the C4, maybe with some upgrades.

Switching to EFI could involve buying a Fitech system or retrofitting a used stock system. You'll need a high pressure pump, and the details are significant but it's quite doable and carries a good improvement in driveability and fuel economy.

No to the C6 - but if you are set on upgrading from a C4, look into an AOD. They can easily be built to handle even the strongest small block and you get the bonus of overdrive.

I had a Holly EFI system once but could never get it tuned...:disagree:
I ran the MSD Atomic throttle body EFI and really liked it...:thumbs2:
I now have the Pro Flow 4 multi port injection and except for my fuel pump taking a dump while installing the EFI I think I will like it better than the Atomic...JMO
will know more about it when I get back from the Meet in July.

I have the FiTech EFI. Back when I bought mine the setup manual was basically useless, I learned more reading online. The only issue I had involved the idle speed. Once that was figured out it's been great. Took a weekend to install.

Say no to the C6. I have a beefed up C4 behind my 421 Windsor with no issues in 11 years. I am making about 450 horsepower. My son has a Comet with a warmed up 302 and a beefed up AOD with no issues in 4 years. Stick with the C4.
