I have a 71 Mav 200 i6 and I love it. Everyone ask what's in it. The Flowmasters makes it sound mean. I'm sticking w my 3.3L. I just wish i could stop the slow oil leak. I'm looking at a 74 Mav 250. I wonder what the difference is in the 200 & the 250.

A lot more than 50 cubic inches.

For starters the bell bolt pattern, flexplate and starter(really you want 250 transmission as well). Motor mounts, radiator, exhaust pipe etc, plus carb is specific to 250 as that engine is approx 1.5" taller than 200. Best bet is have a donor vehicle so all the parts will be at hand.

i like my 250, i spent some money on it, wasn't too bad. trans pattern is same as a 302 so if i ever go v8, i'm set. running a 6-1 tri-y, has a nice unique angry sound to it even run all the way to the back of the car thru 2.25" exhaust. def a lot more balls than the 200 on my falcon.

    Hi Adam:
If your're going to invest the kind of $$$ for improvements in performance .. you may want to consider a nice
302 or 5.0 engine ( running ) and just make the switch .. You can find those engines everywhere .. just be careful
with your selection .. The engine swap is covered in this forum . Just my opinion !
