Ok fellas!! I managed to mask off and paint the roof white without destroying the rest of the paint/ decal work that I've done. It aint perfect in regards to "correctness" but I got it close enough for me to be able to live with. I've also applied the gloss coat over everything...

It looks perfect to me, unbelievable!!!

Even though wipers are not on Dyno's car, great work on those and the window trim.

Excellent work! I especially like the decal fix, and the extra detail on the tires. You have some mad modelling skills. I am being encouraged by this to give my next slot car body a little extra love.

Thanks HR! It would've been a TON of work to remove the WS wiper blades. I've already been on this bad boy for several months in fact. lol

'Preciate the encouraging words Stu. I've learned a thing or two through the years. Lookin' forward to that slot car that you've got in the works.

Forgetting to paint the roof white was just one item that I forgot. Just yesterday I saw where I forgot to paint the tail light panel black. No biggie....just masked off and shot it semi gloss black this morning and it turned out ok.

I have two 427 SOHC engines. One that was part of the glue bomb Dick Brannan Maverick that I have and the other one is from this kit. I'll be using the glue bomb engine to do all test fitting in regards to the engine/ transmission and related parts into the chassis for this build.

Sourcing the correct headers for this car is impossible and building my own would be almost as much. I did, however, find a set of headers that might actually work from another kit.

Just a little cutting and matching up and these'll work. Just gotta clean 'em up a little more so they'll look nice n' tidy.

If you have not already purchased a copy, this is a must have for any Dyno Don fan. It contains just about everything the author could dig up on his career in addition to a lot of photo's, including the Mavericks. As a note of interest, I read that Bob Panella, Chevrolet engine builder and ex-PS truck competitor, rebuilt the SOHC 427 in Dyno's car after it was sold. This was not Panella's first Ford motor, as he built 500" pro stock engines for Hurley Blankeney's Escort that was driven by the late Scott Geoffrion.

I purchased mine off the rack at Summit Racing in Tallmadge (Akron). It covers a surprising amount of detail regarding each of his cars. A lot of the pics were made available by his family and might be helpful in detailing your outstanding scale model.
