Hello All, My name is Promise, and I am a new mom to a 1977 Ford Maverick; I just adopted my baby on December 28, and I am excited. I had been looking for awhile, both in and outside of GA, but finally found him 20 miles up the rd (saved me money on shipping costs)! I am totally new to this and will do my research, make my list, and start slow. Anybody know where to find some good literature to read on this year? Also, any suggestions on where to start 1st - drivetrain, suspension, brakes, prime & paint, etc?
Promise, welcome to the forum! How did you happen to select a Maverick as a project car? Great choice by the way. If you are not already aware, you will find that whenever you display, race, cruise, tour or park your Maverick more than likely it will be the only one in the crowd of cars. How great is that? Unless of course you are at a Maverick Comet Club International (MCCI) event with only Mavericks and Comets. Thanks for the repair index. I had just been looking at Novas and happened on a Comet, then the Maverick and Torino and decided on the Maverick. I like the body. I like that it came before the Mustang, and I wanted something not as popular, but still known enough to find some parts. I like the idea of being one of the only Mavericks in the crowd. There's this Octane show here every first Sunday of the month, and I'm not sure that I've seen a Maverick yet.
Welcome from the tundra that's the Northeast. Looks like a good base to start from. Definitely will find so great info here.
Welcome from Portland, OR. If it runs and drives, that is a big plus. I would check the brakes and steering first. Once those are dialed in, just get all deferred maintenance caught up as you go, and enjoy your new ride! Looks good BTW.
