    My car starts and runs but only if you slightly hold the ignition switch on. I was told it could be an adjustment on the steering colum

    The ignition switch is mounted to the column. It is connected to the key by a rod. As you see the mounting slots allow for adjustment. So yes, this might be all you need to do is move the switch a little.
