I went to the World of Wheels in D.C. this weekend and met Dennis Gage from My Classic Car. I told him to bring his show to Kentucky "Rocks" for the Roundup this year. He did say it would be a cool event but I'm sure he is booked for this year with events. He said that he has owned two Maverick's and that they were the most reliable cars he has ever owned. He said he loved Maverick's. If he had some notice, I think he would try to get to a Roundup one year. That would be the ultimate show on T.V. and give us a lot of exposure. He signed a picture for me and instead of signing it happy motoring, he signed it happy Mavericking. He was real cool.
He comes to Cruisin-The-Coast in Mississippi, or at least has been here the last 2-3 years. I've got his autograph a couple of times and he'll take photos with you. He'll be here again in October and I'm going to try my best to get him to come to my car for pic. That would be really cool. I'll certainly post the pic if I get it.
Me and my son met Dennis at the World of Wheels show in B'ham in Feb. Really a cool guy. He ran out of photos to sign so he signed my sons t shirt! When we got home he put this shirt up for safe keeping, never to be worn again. Thats my son on the right in the red shirt, Dennis on the left in the trademark cap.
I have sent him an invitation and a dash plaque every year. Maybe this year will be the year!! He used to be based out of Evansville. Not sure if he still is or not.
the closest i have come to meeting someone famous is knowing someone that met someone famous.... good job.... YAY! for Mavericks..... our cars certainly are well known around the US..
One thing to think about is that every time someone from here meets him bring up the round up and mention that you have already met some of us good folks, like razor at cruisin the gulf, Nick at the world of wheels and everytime invite him out. I'm sure it will stick in his mind eventually.
Wilbur and I met him at a Fun FOrd Weekend - he laughed at our yellow Maverick - said it looked like it just came out of his grandmother's garage. It actually does with that houndstooth check vinyl roof. That was the year he put Shawn Simpson's grabber on the show. It was interesting watching him film. But the piece on Shawn's car was great!
part- time and i both met him at old town while he was filming there. we got pics at our cars and autographs. part-time won the prize though since his yeller mav was the first mav to be filmed for dennis' show. scheduled to air twice this year. if you go to his web page then look for the title of old town cruise or something similar you should be able to find out when it airs.
