Hey everyone! I’m looking to replace my leaking stock radiator in my 72 maverick. I’m wondering what options have worked well for all of you. The car has a 302 with long tube headers so there is a fair bit of heat under the hood. I’m wondering what aftermarket rads bolt into our cars w/o mods to core support.
Aluminum or copper … what do you guys think?
What set ups have worked well for all of you?
I am a high school student so my budget isn’t huge, my price range would be around $350 max.
    Thank you!

Champion 2-row. You'll have to drill your own holes for the fan shroud, and it would be smart to drill new mounting holes exactly 1/2" below the lowest pre-drilled mounting holes...

Because the lower inlet connection is too close to the front crossmember, making it difficult to put the lower radiator hose on. Raising the radiator up 1/2-inch puts makes it fit perfectly.
I have passed this advice on to friends who have purchased that radiator for their Mavericks, and they have followed it with great success...

Thank you all for the replies! I am leaning towards Champion 2 core rad, slightly concerned about some of the reviews im reading online though. Seeing a fair amount of folks having leaky cores after a few months to a year of use. Maybe they changed manufacturers recently? Is there an upshot to potentially repairing my factory copper cored radiator? Does anyone have any success with Cold Case? I appreciate the input

2-row if you are using the stock fan. More rows requires more air flow...

I put in a Spectra Premium CU329 radiator in my 1970 Mav that I got on amazon about 2 1/2 years ago, fit perfectly with no problems, and no issues with it since. However, as I type this looks like it isn't available at amazon anymore, hopefully it is available elsewhere.

I have a good used one from a 40,000 mile 71 comet 302 car for 150 plus shipping.

Why don't you just get the original repaired?
