I recently replaced the hood hinges on my 1971 Comet with a new old stock pair as my originals were worn out. After adjusting them to get good gaps all around between both fenders and the cowl and closing the hood, when I raised the hood, I noticed that the hood did not raise evenly at the rear. When propped open with the prop rod, there is about a 2-inch gap between the rear corner of the hood and the top of the fender on the passenger side and only about 3/4 of an inch gap between the rear corner of the hood and the top of the fender on the driver's side. When closed, the hood has perfect gaps and sits perfectly with the fenders in regards to height. There were no factory stickers on the hinges as far as part numbers. I do know that there was a 1970 only hinge (part #s D0DZ-16796 and 7-B) and the later 1971 hinge ( part #s D0DZ-17696 and 7-C). Could one of my new hinges possibly be the 1970 only part? I have no idea what the actual difference is between the two. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Post up some pictures. I know of no differences between a 1970 and the other years. Your hinges should be mirror images of each other.
