    Guys,
Over the years I have collected 2 shelves of transmission stuff
including the pedal assembly and the firewall pivot. But havent
gotten the Z bar or the engine pivot. Well the engine in my maverick
seems to have been manufactured after 1978 (think that is the year ford went to Cable) and the engine i got from my neighbor for a 100 bucks is a 1984, so
neither one is tapped for the pivot...Now for the big question.. anyone here
ever convert their pivot rod system to a cable or a hydrolic system? I see a
feller on ebay with a maverick selling instructions on installing a 5 speed into
a maverick but what if you want to keep it a 3 or 4 speed. He made a note
on the bottem of the aucton that his wont work for the 4 speed. I have looked
around and found a picture of the mustang, it uses a different clutch arm.
    Thanks
    Robert

I think Dan might still have a Z bar setup in this thread

Not sure if someone makes a pivot ball bracket for later blocks. I know they are available for the Brand X folks. You could also use a Hydraulic release bearing from McCloed.

There are several articles about people using T5's and a cable setup just do a search on the board

I have a Z bar setup, toploader and bellhousing etc but I am keeping it as a package. which I may sell at a later time

I know I've saw that there is a bracket made that attaches to one of the bell housing bolts and it lets you use your original z bar and linkage on a newer style block without the hole.If you look at yours you might be able to make one.I'll go thru my saved documents and see if I can find who makes them and let you know.

another option if you like the cable idea is to use a 79-82 fox body bellhousing with the aluminum s.r.o.d trans and 250, 255 v8 or 5.0. these probably could also be found in fairmont based cars as well. this bell has the toploader and 3 speed pattren on it. just follow the same steps involved on a t5 install for the clutch linkage

I have a 3 speed behind a 89 HO i made the bracket that bolts to the bell. If you want to do the cable clutch slide the pedal out you can slide a fox body quadrant and pedal in you have to space it right and cut the lower half of both pedals and weld the mav. lower on the fox arm. you will prob. have to use a mustang II cable. drill a hole in the firewall for the cable mount. GOOD LUCK

You can get the bracket but still need the original engine side mount. The only one I had available for sale has been sold .... Sorry ... As most people know this is a difficult part to find.
