Went to 3 of the big junkyards here in my town last week, and to my surprise (and dismay), the largest one had NO Mavericks or Comets--crushed them all, and the other two had just ONE Maverick/Comet that didn't have any parts I needed. I remember the days when you could see 12 to 15 of these cars in the junkyards. They were dime-a-dozen. Looks like they ARE indeed become more rare by the minute.
klingers boy am i lucky, there is a yard in eastern pa with something like 30 or so mavs my dad and me lucked out i guess!!1
pine grove PA.. exit 12 or so off 78/22 what do you need off his cars? me n todd (19fordmav72) know more of what he has than he does. maybe we can save you a trip. one thing i DO know- on the way back from the western mini meet last summer, near harrisburg on the PA turnpike, i saw a yard with a zillion mavericks/comets lined up. anybody might know what the name of that yard is? thanks
Just east of Harrisburg in Grantville there is a salvage yard that specializes in Fords - I think they're called Weaver's.
I know how you feel about the junkyards crushing all the old Mavericks and Comets. Except for the place in Pine Grove that Scott mentioned, there are very few places around these parts that still have any Mavericks in them. There was a yard a few miles away from me that had about eight Mavericks in it that were in decent shape. I called down there the other day about some Volvo parts and asked the guy if the Mavericks were still there. You guessed it: he had them all crushed. Wished I'd known he was going to do that. There were alot of good parts left on those cars.
