Hi! The winter is over! I ordered headers, Hooker 6901, now this headers are in the shop allready. My car is stock and got all this EGR system, thermactor air pump is on the place were it's put in the factory. Including headers and exhaust, I want to install oil pressure, coolant temp. and alternator gauges.(Autometer) The questions are next: Where can I connect all this gauges. Do I need all this 3way solenoid valve (vaccum) they have business when the engine is overheating and some thing with vaccum advatige when the driving speed is ower 35mls/h How can I get vaccum advantige to distributor shortest way(when I remove 3-way solenods, or shud I leave them where they are). What this thermactor air pump is doing, can I remove it and thats it!? Some troubles what are waiting me, when I start to installing this headers? Maverick '75 302cid.w AC, PS, column shift Thanks! Sorry about my wraiting style! Your language is not my language.
You need a bracket to lower the power steering and the shift linkage could be in the way and pose some problems.
your oil pressure gauge can hook to where your stock dash warning light is. it is located right above the fuel pump. your coolant temp gauge you can tap into the intake manifold or you can tap it into the themosat housing. you should beable to get addapters from autometer. as far as mounting the gauge you can put them almost anywhere you want as long as the sending wires or lines reach. i don't understand what you mean by the 3way solenoid valve? as far as the air pump it injects air into the exaust for supposed cleaner air. i don't think in your country it would matter to have it on or off because i don't think you would have smog checks like in some states in the USA. i would just take it off and just plug up the the inlet to the exaust. as for headers you must have a floor shifter and like NICK said if you have power steering you will need a power steering drop bracket here is a picture of it http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?Ntt=header+power+steering+bracket&Ntk=KeywordSearch&DDS=1&searchinresults=false&N=0&target=egnsearch.asp&x=19&y=6 good luck!
I think BENBEN is referring to the ported vacuum switch that is operated by coolant temperature. I'd try bypassing it ( ported vacuum direct to vacuum advance) and see how it performs. Whatever you do BENBEN dont throw anything away, save it, I wish I would have! "O" if you have the vacuum advance with two ports, use the port furthest from the distributor housing.
Thanks to everybody! Is this too mutch, to ask measures to this lowering bracket from somebody?... Or everybody who have H.headers, do'nt have power steering? Or the picture of this bracket when it's installed allredy.Whay? For an example, this headers cost to me 300 buc. (price was 150). When I buy this 20 dollar piece, the transport will cost apr. 50 dollars. All together 86,4 bottles of good beer. In here, in some enthusiasts garage it costs me beer or two . To Maverick Man: How to bild exhaust, I take an idea from your car. Rustfree, but 2 1/2" , X or H pipe, not shure at the moment. Over the rear axle is too difficult, I think I finish the pipe before the rear axle. Pipe end come out from the side. And obout the smog test... the last year is 1973, oweners of this cars can drive thru without smog test. But I think 30 years old catalytic converter (my Mav) is same as noting and I'm drivening all summer, leagally To lbr: Yes, you are correct! Same 3-way valves. Floor shift, B&M I think?
