Do any of these lugnuts look suspcious to you? :16suspect Just me, my foot, and a 4-way, and this was the result (and I'm no King Kong, those who have met me can vouch for that :D):

They happily exchanged the broken lug nut (was the one of the 'locks' from the set) but now I am wondering if I can really trust this set of lugnuts. They are the 'Rally' brand from Advance Auto.. was the only full set I could find in a hurry.

Matt I use the same lugs from Advance and havn't had any probs and I use an impact wrench, I think you just got a bad one, one thing I know for sure there a better quality than what came with my Cragars.

Is wheel theft a possibility? Personally I think locking lugs look way out of place. They dont match the rest of the lug nuts and stick out like a sore thumb. I wont use them. Just buy good insurance instead.

Glad to hear someone else is using them. No Dennis, I didn't get them because I was worried about theft, it was just the only full set I could get at Advance, and was cheaper than 5 packages of four to make a whole set. :) I may buy a set of four and get rid of the locks, because really they are kind of a pain anyway.

I hate wheel locks. They ARE a pain. Glad to hear that they replaced the lug. Preston

looks like your studs are too short, stud's threads should extend into the hex part of lug nut.

I'm using them, but they started rusting a week after I put them on, guess I'll just have to start saving to get good ones.

What does that mean? Why should I assume that the parts they sell at the parts store are substandard?

Seriously, automotive stores sell some real junk when it comes to fasteners. I've seen SAE bolts and nuts that were made in Mexico, Taiwan, and China that were not to spec. They seem to make metric hardware ok but our SAE threads confuse them. For stock lug nuts I would go to a dealer or a place that sells Made In USA fasteners (NAPA?). For mounting mag wheels go to a speed shop that sells nuts from Cragar, McGard, Gorrilla, etc. You mentioned buying that part because it was cheaper to get 4 packs of nuts and 1 pack of locks, hence the comment "You get what you pay for". Lug nuts can be a safety issue on your car, don't skimp when buy any critical fasteners.
