hey, ucmeflyby. no such thing as a 79 maverick. they were only made from 69 1/2 - 77. as for the cowl vents being plugged up. that means a lot of work to fix. i'd pass on that one for $1500. if you want a 2 dr. wait for one to show up or you won't be happy.:)

I'm with Dennis. Get the Sprint! It's very rare & hard to come by. The interior is just awesome. Go take a look! I got mine for $900. The one in your area is $800, that's a steal....

Welcome to the board! Like you, I didn't have a Maverick or Comet either when I joined the forum. Keep an eye on the classifieds on this site, I found one there within the first week of joining and within a month had it sitting in the driveway even though its techincally not all mine... (y)

Man you guys are just too nice. I talked to Jerry a few weeks back, before the Fun Ford weekend, and I'm planning on looking him up to take a look at those two cars he knows of. I found another one locally, a '76 two-door w/302, but it was in real bad shape, although it would make an ideal parts car. Don, thanks for the tip about the non-existing '79 4-door. Maybe since the guy doesn't know any more than that I can "bluff" a better price out of it. The body is in real good shape, but fixing that cowl would probably turn into a big job, drilling out spot welds, patching rust holes and all that.
