Matt, mine were also a direct bolt-on. Those vehicles should be plentiful enough in the junkyards that you'd be able to find some that'll fit without drilling anything.
serp Frank tell me what parts I need in detail (you know I'm old) thats what I need to do to mine...power steering must go...Jim
jim, check this post out..."low-budget serpentine conversion"... by maplemav...frank... i had to put a washer in top bracket to line the alt. pully up.
Question? Aren't the serpentine water pumps reverse rotation? If so, don't you have to change water pumps and fans to the late style reverse rotation or did you figure a way to make it turn correctly? Seems if you kept the old style pump and fan it would run backwards and not cool properly.
stepside, not all serpentine setups are reverse rotation. The water pump pulleys from mid-80's LTD/Crown Vic's have grooves in them and are therefore standard rotation. Water pump pulleys from Fox body Mustangs etc. of the same era are smooth and intended for reverse rotation. Charlie Ping cleared this up for me in an earlier thread: http://www.maverick.to/mmb/showthread.php?t=12433&highlight=frpp+underdrive
Only problem I had was my bottom pully had to be spaced out. Not sure if it was my balancer or the pully, but I had to make a spacer I think about 3/8" thick. I had to keep the spacer on even after I bought the March set up. Everything else lined up perfectly.
Thanks for setting me straight MapleMav, I hadn't even noticed that some of the pump pulleys were grooved. Ya done learned me sumpthin!
Weird...i have the same March setup as Dennis and it was the alternator that didn't line up...I had to cut the spacers down that came with the kit.
